Mayor Talk
The RPS history department partnered with the Mayor's office and InspireVA to create "The Mayor's Voter Registration Challenge". Richmond High Schools registered some of the highest numbers of students in the region and won the top spots in the Governor's challenge as well.
Black History Month Presentation
John Marshall High school is known for its committment to Black history. Every year the JMHS history department puts on a wonderful Black History Month program for the community.
Inspire VA Voter Registration
Inspire VAand the History/Social Science department partnered with the Mayor of Richmond City to create and sponsor the “Mayor’s Challenge”. Five RPS schools won the award this year for registering 65% or more of their eligible voters (Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall, Richmond Community,Franklin Military, and Richmond Alternative all registered at least 65% of their eligible senior class.
Richmond City Pow-Wow
The pow-wow is an opportunity for the public to interact with members from more than 100 Indian tribes and to learn firsthand about rich Native American traditions including dancing, drumming, singing, arts and crafts, and food. Items for sale include jewelry, moccasins, beadwork, rugs, books and paintings. A parade of nations with over 100 American Indians in regalia -HenricoCitizen.com
Carver Elementary Back to School
The Teachers and Staff of George W. Carver Elementary School and Cheerleaders from Virginia Union University, welcome new students back to school for the year. RPS is there to create a loving and supportive environment for all of our students to come back to school to.
